Resident Assistant (RA) selection is based upon the ability of applicants to satisfy the selction criteria through the information contained in the written application and during interview. 

Macquarie University Village reserves the right to not appoint or to appoint through invitation.

1. A demonstrated capacity for leadership.
2. A self starter who is able to initiate activities and see them through to completion. Activities are diverse and include social, sporting, media and communications and community service portfolios.
3. An ability to respond to emergencies or difficult situations in a calm and mature manner and follow appropriate procedures.
4. An active involvement in student life and other communities and an established presence within the Village
5. Empathy with the diverse issues faced by university students and an appreciation of the needs of students in residential accommodation.
6. A strong desire to be an active hands-on leader in student residential accommodation.
7. An ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
8. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
9. An understanding and commitment to Occupational Health, and Safety (OHS) principles, and an understanding of and commitment to a harassment and discrimination free workplace and living environment.
10. A commitment to enhancing skills and knowledge, including undertaking appropriate training programs when offered.
