In 2014 village management, staff and Macquarie University decided to tackle the drinking culture associated with younger generations. The situation surrounding binge drinking is something the village takes very seriously and a task force was set up to create a 'safe space' for students to discuss any events or program ideas they had that are designed to provide alternative activities for residents.
We are proud to say that we have been able to sustain well into 2015, in conjunction with Red Frogs and AlcoCups, a Residential Life Program that tackles the drinking culture head on and challenges our residents to participate in activities, inside and outside of the village, alcohol free.
Red Frogs have been instrumental in providing us their on-going support in the form of countless events held on and off site for our residents that have opened up a forum of opportunity for them to express themselves and succeed in their studies without the need or pressure of 'conforming to the norm' of drinking and drinking to excess.
We invite you to view each of our partners below as well as becoming apart of our Facebook community to keep up to date with our on-going commitment to the improvement of village life and on campus university culture to help all students get the most out of our their educational careers.
